Francis Winspear Centre for Music

Pro Coro Canada's home is the Francis Winspear Centre for Music - a world class concert hall, representing the very best in acoustical design. Located in the heart of Edmonton's Arts District, the Winspear Centre shares scenic Sir Winston Churchill Square with the Edmonton Art Gallery, City Hall, Citadel Theatre and Stanley A. Milner Library. The building's open, dramatic exterior and glass tower are a vibrant addition to the downtown square.
The
newest addition to the performance chamber at the Francis Winspear Centre
for Music is the magnificent Davis Concert Organ. Launched at a sold-out
gala performance on September 14, 2002, the beautiful creation in wood and
metal was built by Orgues Létourneau Limitée of St. Hyacinthe,
Québec. It features 96 stops, 122 ranks, and 6,551 pipes –
a stunning aural as well as visual delight.
The
organ is named both to acknowledge the generosity of Dr. Stuart Davis, and
for him to honour the memory of his late wife Winona. The organ (and organist
Jeremy Spurgeon) is featured in many concerts presented by Pro Coro Canada.
